today i had a loverly day hanging out with my friend julia, who transferred from the corcoran to FIT this year. we went to mood, which is the fabric store that the project runway contestants frequent with tim gunn.
i was pretty much in awe of wide range of stuff they had. it makes me wish i was a fashion student, just so i could learn to use everything there! it was really fun looking at all the designer fabrics and prints, and i got this delightfully tacky fabric to hang up in my studio:
i love it. so great. the staff there were really helpful and seemed really knowledgeable, too (but i guess they have to be!). they have this great little dog that hangs out there, too, which seems to be a trend here in NY.
after that we went to beacon's closet, which is this awesome thrift/second hand store off of the bedford ave stop on the L. they have some really awesome quirky clothes, and a lot of designer labels. i got a romper that would supposedly go for a few hundred dollars usually for only 25$! gotta love those deals.
