No Me Without You

my newest school project involved a re-imagination of my "red hair" drawings. i collaborated with my friend sara winston to bring my twins to life. click through to sara's blog or my flickr to see the rest of the set. i like the way sara described it best:

Recently, Emilia Olsen and I made these photographs based off of some of her Red Hair I & II drawings. It is the beginning of a longer collaboration, and it is off to a great start. The conjoined hair contemplates the love/hate tendencies, typically between young, adolescent girls as their relationships develop into adulthood and they become less dependent on one another. There is the embrace, despair, and disquiet, of tenderly growing apart.

it's been a really long time since i posted. i apologize for the long wait. since ending my semester in new york, i returned home in madison, wisconsin, for a much too short break. after spending a little time with family and friends, i left for italy. i then spent almost three weeks traveling around in between torino, asti, bolzano (where i lived for six months in high school), bologna, and milano visiting old friends. some of the highlights was going tobogganing for the first time in the dolimites, getting to spend time with my host family in the house i used to live in, seeing one of my best italian friends for the first time in four years, and getting to do a short "pilgrimage" of blu murals in his native bologna. it was also really fun to speak italian again, as well.

now, i'm back in dc to finish my last year and a half of school. it was a little strange at first, but i've adjusted back to corcoran life quickly and smoothly. i'm living by myself, which i really enjoy, and taken a pretty full course load. i like all my classes. i'm also doing an internship with the corcoran gallery (in artreach), and i'm also continuing to work with DLF.TV.
i'm also starting an exciting new collaboration with sara winston, one of my best friends here in dc.
all in all, things are going well. i'll be posting a lot more, now, i hope.
